swapping to TPI need some help

I am getting the whole thing. Is it easy to swap in? Should I get anything else other than the harness and comp?

You will need a new Alternator bracket. That part is no longer available from the dealer, search the junkyards or try and get one modified, you'll see how it needs to be modded once you try and put it on.

You'll need a new throttle cable, $14.00 new from dealer. etc....

On my site I have a list of items that you need to do the swap from carb to tpi.

I have some left over parts that you will need, fuel pump and sender unit, brand new fuel tank(you don't really need it but I'll get rid of it cheap, it takes too much space in my garage)

I need help with this part of the swap so far: Where am I going to put the knock sensor module? Where does it go in the block? thanks for any help as there will be plenty more questions to come.

The knock sensor is located in the middle of the base of the block on the passenger side right above the oil pan.

does this mean my block will not have a provision for it?

From my experience, oin jsut about all engines there is provision for the knock sensor. I have a 67 Riv that I used the block drain. On most engines (that I know of) it seems that there is a small drain for the collent, on the passenger side of the engine.
From what I understand when GM went to using knock sensors that is where they plugged it in. There is an advantage to this as well, and is why they chose the location. Water carries sound much better and faster than the cast iron block.

I think The knock sensor typically uses 1/4" Pipe thread.

What is the bracket for? Is it in case I can't find a bracket for the 85-86 style?

The alternator bracket for a TPI vehicle with the alternator on the passenger side of the car has one of the mounting holes sitting vertically instead of horizontally.
If I had a pic of both, you'd be able to see what I mean easier.
Look at your alternator bracket, where it mounts to the intake manifold you'll notice that it sits flat horizontally on the intake manifold. On the TPI, that part of the bracket mounts to the side of the TPI intake, so that mounting point is vertical.

You'll probably need a new oil pressure sending unit fitting that attaches to the back of the block.
On my LG4, the fitting was a 2.5" straight pipe that screwed into the top of the block behind the intake manifold and the oil pressure sending unit screwed into that.
The ones on the TPI cars are two pieces shaped like a "Y" with a fitting for the oil pressure sender and the "oil pressure fuel pump secondary backup switch" connector.
This secondary switch, as I am told, keeps the fuel pump running if the fuel pump relay goes bad, it checks to see if there is oil pressure, if there is, car keeps driving.

sounds good but I plan on putting an inline fuel pump so I might just rig it to my fuse panel.

I have two old connectors that went from my computer to my gauges ALDL blah blah. Can I just plug them into the TPI harness? Or do I have to change this too? Also I plan on swapping in a 90-92 dash which I just got today and I want to splice those into my harness. Will this work? I think it would be easier to splice the gauges in with new senders then to try and rewire my whole car.
