Need VIN number for a '90 IROC

Have a TPI on my 406 and now have the new Auto Xray 10110 scanner for GM. Need the 7th character for this unit, would be a '90 5.7L TPI motor. Seems my engine builder is out of town and I need this letter to configure the scanner properly..........think it is K but want to make sure. Thanks!

7th isnt a letter, its a number. Are you looking for the year or engine part of the VIN? The 8th digit is the engine, it will be an 8, and the 10th will be the year, its gonna be an L. The 7th will be a 5 I think.

Thanks, you are correct, I needed the 8th digit (which was an 8) and the 4th digit (a letter) for the Auto Xray 10110. Got it working, now to diagnose my problem........
