Problems after fuel fill-up
I stopped at a Marathon gas station today to fillup my Formula this morning and the cut-off in the pump nozzle apparently failed which caused it to overfill causing fuel to come pouring out of the filler neck. I first moved the car out of the puddle and went inside to inform the manager of the problem (the car started fine to do this). I went back to the car to leave and the car wouldn't start. Everything was working as it should so I loosened the car and fuel started trickling out again. I let it do this for a minute or so and put the cap back on. After a couple more tries the car starts and I head back home. I made a stop on the way figuring since I had driven 20 or so miles the fuel level should be back to normal. I went to leave again and the car wouldn't start again. The starter was spinning fine but I noticed that fuel pressure was at 44psi, it's never been that high before when starting(usually never higher than 40psi after the pump primes). I figure the fuel problem isn't over yet so I loosened the cap and heard the sound of pressure being released but this time no fuel coming out. After about another 5 minutes it finally started and I made a straight path for home. I switched the car off and restarted it with no trouble at least 4 more times. Did the excess fuel in the tank along with the higher than normal fuel pressure create a vapor lock type situation? Also, will this overfilling cause me future problems such as evap canister issues, etc.? The car is an LO3 Formula with a TPI conversion just in case it may mean anything.
