Sputtering

Recently I have been having troubles with first start up of my car. When I start it one of two things happen. The first is that it when it starts and i put the car in drive or reverse it stalls. I have had to restart the car up to 6 times until it acts like it is going to stall and then the idle seems to adjust so it holds. The second problem is also on start up. It has only been doing it recently and not everytime but when started the idle is real rough sort of like i have a big cam in it or something. It goes into drive fine but when i am stopped and hit the gas it starts sputtering and cutting out until it shifts into second. I dont know if this could be from the incorrect air the fuel ratio or some other problem. I tried checking the spark plug wires to make sure none of them had been burned on my headers to see if that would be causing a misfire but they all looked fine. If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it.

Re: Sputtering

There are a few things that you can check. First check the IAC to make sure that it is not gunked up. make sure that behind the throttle blades there is no carbon as well. make sure that you have a good fuel pressure and i would change the plugs and wires if you have not in a while. possible cap and rotor
