knock sensor problem

i have a 91z 305tpi. as soon as i start my car, the ses light comes on and stays on. pulled code 43. its been like this since i got it. i recently tested the voltage going to knock sensor, and it was good. then i checked the ohms of the knock sensor and get nothing. it runs alright with a slight miss on occasion while cruising and under wot it seems like its lacking some power. it runs pretty good, i just think that its not all there. my question is how much power will a bad knock sensor rob me of? i plan on replacing the sensor when i install my headers later on, but if it'll make a big difference in how my car runs i'll change it now. i have a hypertech chip that was in it when i bought it, cat delete with flowmaster cat back, shift kit, 3.73 posi, k&n, and i can't even chirp the tires from a dead stop. like i said, i bought the car this way, so i can't compare how it ran before the code 43. thanks
