Firebird 305 tpi stalling!!! help
Got code 45 rich condition. car stalls when i press the clutch pedal and/or come to a stop sometimes the car will start up and will shut off instantly, i need to stay on the accelerator in order for it to remain on.. this problem started when i changed the strainer screen on the fuel pump, when it happened i checked the tank again and noticed that fuel was leaking out from the fuel tank. where the fuel sending unit is mounted on top of the tank and the o ring seal was moved around. made sure the leak was gone and after that the car ran fine till a couple of days ago I almost missed a stop sign and slammed on the brakes and downshifted and shook the car a bit. After that the car started to do the same again but this time the car takes a lil bit longer on starting and i have to stay on the gas so it can turn on. i dont get it how could that make the car run rich.... or what else could it be? :/

Re: Firebird 305 tpi stalling!!! help
my 91 z28 had a similar issue(may not help you as mine was automatic but ill give you a list of things that were wrong with mine ..btw mines 100% better now) ok
1.1 bad injector
2.egr was clogged
3.fuel pump and fuel filter were bad
4.bad ground from distributor
5.bad connections to the ecm
6.bad o2 sensor
7.tps needed to be set correctly/iac
8.cts(coolant temp sensor) was shot (although my fans still dont work, the computer gets proper information with the new switch,,i ordered hayden fan switch to operate fans at a better tempp anyway)
so that is the list of problems i had and yes they are all related to a stalling/rough idle condition...also check vaccums and be sure to test original parts before replacing (mine were in fact tested before replaced (minus egr that was just filled with carbon) this forum is great to find instructions and how to's) good luck with it!! and i really hope some of this is useful otherwise im sorry for taking up space in your thread
