What is the 4th outlet on my gas tank for?
I have a clogged return line in my 1986 TPI Iroc. I just replaced the fuel pump a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not happy having to remove the tank again.
During the fuel pump replacement I found that my sending unit has 4 outlets, all different diameters. I have in order from thick to thin:
1) Pump output
2) ??? Was disconnected!
3) Fuel return from FPR <-the clogged one.
4) Charcoal canister
What is 2) for ?
I don't think it's supposed to be just open. These cars have a closed evap circuit, hence the charcoal canister, right?
Also, I remember that the fuel return line has like a check right on top of the sending unit. How is this supposed to work?
I was tempted into using the 2) unknown line as a return line, since this one is not clogged. But it would be a loose fit and would probably have a leak there. Also, I'm trying to do things right and leave my Iroc as good as I can.

Re: What is the 4th outlet on my gas tank for?
Thanks for the reply.
I have no valve. It's just a loose hose with nothing attached to it. I can see it aligns perfectly with a hole in the same bracket that holds the brake line. I figure that's where the pressure vent would go. Anyone know a part number or where to find one? Tried googling with no luck.

Wanted to ask about this part, mine has recently started to leak gas when attempting to fill gas?
Little confused on why it would and if your part would cure this?
