Cam Selection

What would be a good cam for a 350 Vortec TPI MAF? I want to have something with low to mid range torque like the engine will provide stock, but I want something that if I wanted to could take advantage of the higher RPM power capabilities of the Vortecs.

I'm going to be using 906 Vortecs, and I want to get them ported and polished, but I don't want to get something too crazy that I need to redo the heads and everything. The max lift for 906's are about .475, so I don't want to go above that. I just want something bigger than the .414/.428 stock cam thats in the engine now.

Also, I want to shoot for ~325hp, 375 ft/ilbs.

I was thinking that instead of getting a cam I could just get 1.6:1 roller rockers to artificially increase my lift, and not have to redo the heads and save a few bucks, but I'm not sure which way to go.

Go with an LT4 cam and some LS6 springs that should put you in your HP range that your looking for and it wont require alot of head work and you can easily find a used LT4 cam if your trying to save some $$ good luck on your build

Re: Cam Selection

Well I know that the 906 Vortecs can only handle up to .475 lift stock, but I've heard that if you change the locks and retainers that you can get up to another .050 lift from them, but is that true? And how do you go about that? Haha
