Re: Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT7137

I havent purchased one but from what I've seen from a vette member, its as tall if not abit shorter than the HSR and should fit under most hoods...BUT the issue is with the TB...well it may be an issue... Theres a flange that extends upward on those TB's which makes it the low clearance point.

Some pics down the page there of the proflo setup. HSR rubbed on my iroc hood by the TB, so anything higher at that point, it may be a concern i just dont have dimensions in front of me

Re: Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT7137

I think some people have flipped the TB upside down, which fixes the "up" angle issue I believe. ....as for the intake itself, I really like the look, but have heard a lot of issues with edelbrock's quality. I think you have to be prepared to port.

EDIT....so I know I've heard people talk about flipping the TB. I think it's for the throttle cable, but...on the edelbrock, the brackets are already on the passenger side, so no need. Is the "up" angle in the manifold, or the TB itself?

From the photo in the link it looks like the raised TB flange is part of the manifold.

A lot of people don't run coolant through the TB. But if ya wanted to, then yeah, I guess it'd be a problem. It's not necessary though.

heard a lot of issues with edelbrock's quality
Let me clarify. Issues with with crappy casting. I can definitely see how my Eddy TPI manifold could've been nicer, although I was gonna port it anyway. You can kinda expect to port a TPI. But With the Pro-Flo/or HSR style, you shouldn't NEED to port it unless you have a specific need to do so. The HSR is clean. The Eddy is real rough.

Re: Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT7137

The anti-icing system that routes coolant through the TB may be necessary in cold northern climates if a car is driven during near freezing temperatures. Otherwise, since the coolest possible air charge is what the engine wants, routing coolant through the TB is counter productive.
