tbi to tpi swap and twin turbo swap and questions
I have a 92 rs camaro 305 tbi w/ 700r4 that i plan on changing to tpi and eventually twin turboing. I plan on running between 15 and 20 lbs of boost.
I have read through many threads on the swap from tbi to tpi and there are many ways to do it but i have yet to see a straight forward thread.
I plan on doing this to give the tuner scene a new out look.
I need as many facts on tpi swap as i can get but also build the motor for this while I am in it. what kind of heads i should run? what kind of cam? what Kind of piston to use? And what kind of compression I should look for to run on the street.

Re: tbi to tpi swap and twin turbo swap and questions
tpi swap is get the whole top end and wiring harness/computer and swap it. id get rid of the tbi heads especially if your going with tt. also why twin turbo a 305? why not a 355 or 400 or something with some more cubes. the 305 game has been overplayed way to often. as for your turbo system route it however youd like. everyones swap will be different

as for the tpi swap it self i read on one thread I would need a new fuel pump, and in antoher it has to do with the ecm. But i believe this is the swap: get a 730 speed density ecm and modify the wiring harness for the injectors. I have little clue for what else.

i think your quite off on the rpms to gas thing. if you want it to be any bit streetable youll be keeping it at lower rpms. if you already wasted money on all forged bottom end to skyrocket the rpms on a 305 then go for it but i dont see the purpose. a 305 can withstand the same amount of rpms as any other stock engine with a stock bottom end. build the 400 leave it naturally aspirated for now and then play with your turbos. i wouldnt waste your money on the 305.
the stock tpi system would id think suffocate any sort of turbo system, i may be wrong. find yourself a tpi equipped car and get first dibs at the top end/wiring/and computer and youll go from there.

I have the top end off an 87 camaro car complete with wiring harness and ecm. the ecm and the wiring harness are pinned differently between these years.
I will build the 400. but what kind of heads and cam would I use? what kind of piston? with turbos i was told to keep it around 8.1 compression what should i be going for?

yes and no. youll need odd bearings and why? not to be rude but have you ever built an engine before at all? if not you need to do alot of reading before you dive into any of it if you want something to perform well and last. a 3.48 stroke on a 400 would make ait a 377 i believe. look up some turbo builds from this site or different ones and all your question can easily be answered there if you look
