fuel pressure regulator process
Ok.
I have a 5.7 350 v8 tpi eninge that is mostly stock (accel injectors).
I am embarking on replacing the afpr that the previous owner had installed.
I don't think he did anything right with this car and I have been literally
"paying" for it for the last 4 years.
Anyhoo, I get confused on how to check the pressure and have done a search and still am a bit confused.
Keep in mind the plenum has been removed and I have access to the afpr.
Remove gas cap to relieve pressure.
Removed vacuum hose from afpr and leave plugged in to map sensor but
plug the end that came from afpr (this is the section I get confused on).
Attach gauge to schrader port and place rags around it to catch excess fuel.
Start vehicle and observed gauge reading.
Now, if everything that I have posted is correct, what is range that the gauge
should be reading with the car idling?
Now once I have the reading, I can adjust the pressure to where it should be if not in spec.
Hopefully I have the process right for this. I need my tekkies to confirm.
Also, I have a bbk afpr and there is the hat and a metal plate.
The directions say that I install:
plate, diaphragm, regulator.
The only this about this that is confusing is I didn't see any one else say that
they installed any kind of plate underneath the diaphragm.
Help guys!!
