Head questions
Hey everyone. I kept running into this site when searching for info on my car I recently bought, so I decided to finally join. I have an 89 Iroc 305 tpi convertible, and am in love with this car. Been wanting one since I was 17. I am a big chevy guy, but have only owned trucks.
Any way, I have a question concerning my motor. I cannot find in any search exactly what heads are on my engine, as in casting numbers. Its an 89 Iroc 305 tpi, 700r4, 2.73 gears. My plan is to build motor similar to one I had in my old truck. 350 with a comp cams towing cam, 305 heads and edlebrock intake. However I am new to the tpi setup so its going to be a little different.
I'm trying to decide on which 305 heads to use, my old ones casting number 14014416, or the tpi heads. I know the 416s are pretty decent, that setup put my truck on 40s into the low 17s 1/4 mile. The cam will obviously be different, considering its in a car now, and not used for going through trails. Also, I know If I use the 416s I should get a different intake instead of just ovaling the center holes out.
