Fuel injector impedance and EBL Flash w/ Port Mod
Good morning everyone,
I am looking for information on EBL Flash Tune capabilities. My IROC 5.7 TPI is running the stock injectors (high impedance) and EBL Flash w/ port mod. I have 4 brand new Tomco rotary disk D1680BA low impedance injectors that flow 380cc that I would like to use, (found 4 more for 70 bucks), on my 406 FIRST TPI w/ 195cc AFR Competition heads build.
Can EBL handle low impedance injectors? Any benefits to why or why not?
All information would be appreciated. I am still learning about the EBL and I don't want to annoy Rob for everything. Thank you!
Sal

Re: Fuel injector impedance and EBL Flash w/ Port Mod
To properly drive 8 low impedance port injectors need the 4-Injector Upgrade. This will allow you to run four low impedance port injectors on each driver (wired in parallel).
There is more info on driving injectors here:
http://dynamicefi.com/InjectorDriving.php
The EBL Flash ECM can handle low impedance port injectors. But in stock form only 2 in parallel on each driver.
RBob.
P.S. been having email server issues at this time.

It is a hardware upgrade. Ship the EBL Flash ECM to us for the install. See the EBL Flash product page for ordering it:
http://www.dynamicefi.com/EBL_Flash.php
Typically we turn these around in a business day.

Just to clarify, are the low impedance better to use over the high impedance?
I came across 4 more new Tomco low impedance injectors just like the 4 I have had for years. They are new for 70 dollars on ebay. The 4 injector upgrade is 75.00 bringing the cost to $145.00 to invest. I could also buy 8 new 36 pound injectors for just over $300.00 BUT...are they better than low impedance injectors? I am not so sure about the benefits of either with EBL or even my street engine. What do you suggest Rob?
Thank you again!

Re: Fuel injector impedance and EBL Flash w/ Port Mod
Here is another possibility. They cost more than the low impedance method I wanted to go but cheaper than the Lucas 36 lbs high impedance.
My 406 will be running the FIRST intake and AFR 195 Eliminator heads with a Hyd. Flat Tappet 219 cam @ 112 LSA. Lift will be close to .500".
As much as I want to send my EBL back for the 4 injector upgrade, I found myself wanting to save the trouble and just keep using high impedance injectors. The EBL is working...the less I touch the better!

Re: Fuel injector impedance and EBL Flash w/ Port Mod
Low impedance injectors open more quickly then high impedance injectors. This provides more headroom in the duty cycle at high RPM. Not really required on a TPI inducted engine.
More important for a good tune is having the injector compensation values.

Re: Fuel injector impedance and EBL Flash w/ Port Mod
Thanks Rob,
I will go ahead and buy a set of 36 lb high impedance injectors from racetronix. The Tomcos can go in my Ford turbocoupe if/when the brown tops go bad.
