Me thinks its time to do my tranny. I have the replacement valve for the 700r4 of which you bolted and drilled. It comes from kit 8673948. Its a modified kickdown valve equipped in the b4c police package but I never knew where to install it untill I saw those pics. WOT here I come. I don't mind the issue of having to switch b/w 3rd and 4th since I already do that normally. After seeing those pics though It'll be a cinch to do, save for the mess I'll make, but well worth the effort.

its actually not my tranny, you may know of jonas bylund in the tbi forum, he has a supercharged crossfire vette. At some point in its life someone put a camaro tranny in it. My vette already goes to 4th at wot.
I figured this would be a great mod for camaro owners.

I have the B&M 4-3 kickdown kit, which, once you're in 4th, allows you to push the pedal down as much as you want. I, too, have to manually shift from 4th to 3rd at high speed. In fact, the faster I go, the less the car wants to go into 3rd. Example: At 40 mph, I can get the car to go into 3rd normally. At 50 mph, I have to almost floor the gas pedal to get it to drop to 3rd. At 90 mph, it isn't going into third.
So at 50, I shift manually- it's either that, or the little old lady I'm passing will wonder why I just floored my car to pass her.
Oh, and I'm not describing the TCC unlocking (40 mph) either...

Think you can post pics from the kit or e-mail me a copy about how to install the B&M kit? I'm thinking the b4c police package part and the the B&M part are similar so they would similarly install. I'm thinking the mod shown here is another way of doing the same thing, but has nothing to do with the kickdown valve that I bought. Since you installed the B&m kit, am I replacing the same valve in the pictures shown on the guide there?

i got the kickdown kit 8673948, but i know that if i install it myself i will cause $1000 in tranny repairs, so has anyone had a shop do theirs? how much would such a mod cost at a decent tranny shop?

Don't confuse the GM kit with the others...it's very different! The TV doesn't get altered. The valve body needs to be removed to replace the 3-4 shift valve and 2pcs go into the regulator.

If I modify the valve like that guy did, what bad things can I expect from the transmission? There is no way it can be an entirely good mod. There has to be some negative effect, right?
