Roller pilot bearing

OK I need help, which way does this go. The instruction say to put the flat side of the bearing towards the front of the crank, so which side is considered the flat side.

I put mine in with the end in Pic #1 pointing out of the crank. Pic #2 faced the block. So far it works for me

I think pic #1 facing out (like Dirk mentioned) is correct. Notice how that side is chamfered to aid in input shaft installation.

Yes, Dirk is correct. The rounded feature is to help with installation; and if you look closely, you'll see a little rubber lip seal in there on that side.

Thanks guys.. :hail:

That's what I was thinking, been 15 years since the last time I put one, now to rig up a bar and bolt so I can press it in and not beat on it.

Hey guys , I in the process of rounding up the pieces to convert my 91 z-28 Convertible to a t-5 setup and was wondering where could I get a roller pilot bearing like the one in the pics? Also i need a flywheel for the 1pc crankshaft, perferably used. Any info would be great, thanks.
