possible problem??

well, the other week, my friend and i worked on my tranny. we put on a new mount, changed filter, gasket, fluid. well, when i first took the pan off, i found that the filter had apparently fallen off at some time , there were scuff marks from it moving around and i got a bit worried, luckily i havnt driven it since then though. could i have any troubles down the road (punny huh?) with my transmission if the filter wasnt doing anything for ?? amount of time?

yeah the trans could/would suck air instead of oil if the filter isn't installed. when you r&r a filter make sure the old seal isn't stuck in the hole and tap the new filter lightly with a hammer to seat it.
