What would cause 3rd and 4th gear on T5 to be hard to get into???

Sometimes my 3rd and 4th gears are tough to shift into. The stick won't go in and I'll really have to push or pull it in. They don't necessarily give me trouble at the same time, but this problem in general all started around the same time and it's just those two gears with the same exact type of trouble.

Do the two gears share any parts like a shifter fork that could be bent or something to give me these problems?

It'd be hard for me to believe that the 3 and 4 synchros started going at the same time, especially the 4 synchro, how often do they go?

All help is appreciated, it's really starting to be a PITA.

Thanks.

Have you check your clutch fluid level lately? Maybe a bad slave cylinder?

The fluid level seems fine. Would that cause only 3rd and 4th to be problematic?

Yes they share a shifter fork.

It may be bent, or one of the little plastic pads may have just fallen off of it.

It can also be a bent key.

What's the "key" in the tranny?
What's the easiest way to get a look at the shifter fork or the plastic pads? Can you see them from under the car?

Thanks.

I see that you have an aftermarket shifter. These shifters don't have any rubber to absorb vibration in them. If you keep you hand on the shifter while you drive it will wear the plastic pads on the forks away to nothing in a matter of a few thousand miles. I bet that is your problem. $2 part that will take you a full day or more to install.
