well in stock form they suck

if u have an ok shifting tranny but want better performance heres we u should think about.

a decent sized tranny cooler, from like B&M

and then look into getting a transgo shift kit.

also a vette servo would be nice to have.

these things alone will add performance to the 700r4 and make it last longer.

they are a 4 speed tranny (last gear being overdrive)
in thirdgens they use a lock up converter, with a tv detent cable

i think a b&m shift kit would be a good idea, what about drilling out the valvebody when i do that to get a little more snap out of the shifting? i am definatly gonna invest in a trans-cooler, cause heat really kill those TH700R4 trannys. do the trans-coolers come in different sizes? what size should i get if they do? i believe those are remote mounted right? just checkin. thanks again

TCI makes a nice one. they come in 3 different sizes and one thin profile version. they look great and from what i hear, they perform well too. are you running a stock engine or mild performance or what? the TCI should support you up too 400 HP. thats what they claim anyways
