tranny rebuild

anyone know how hard it is to rebuild a th350 yourself? any sites that you know off for a guide?

Transmission: T56, 5-speed, 700R4, C4, T176, semi-auto 2-speed
Axle/Gears: 3.73, 3.90, 4.88, 3.55, 3.54, 7.00
Depends on what you consider hard. I think it's fairly straightforward. There are a lot of parts in an auto, but if you lay everything out and keep everything clean it isn't that big of a deal. I'd recommend buying one of the rebuilding videos available and also a Haynes or other manual on rebuilding autos.

Im horrible with transmissions and reuilt mine using a turbomatic transmission book from chilton. It really helps to have alot of room to lay things out

so how long do you think it would take? for a first timer, I woudl probably use one whole garage parking stall floor. what do you recomend to make it strong for about 300 hp? just a basic rebuiild good enough for that? someone stated they had another 2 plates added to theirs for a better shift. what exactly is a corvette servo? my understanding was it was somethign to do with the vacum for when you shift manual, it has quicker response. I would want to put a stage 3 shift kit in, because I'm always shifting manually myself anyways.

TH350's are easy, but you will need a few special tools to
rebuild one. The piston retainer at the rear of the case is hard to get out and back in without a compressor.
Check out www.automotivetools.com and look at a t-0150 or
t-0151. They push the retainer down so the snap ring can be removed. I like Ron Session's Turbo-Hydramatic 350 Handbook.
It has a lot of info for around $20.00US.

so is that the only special tool I'll need other than wreches, sockets, screw drivers, plyers, the basics.?

how much do one of those bad boys cost?

The compressor is about $30US + shipping. I made a pump puller from a harmonic balancer puller, two 7" bolts and a small bearing splitter which I found at a pawn shop for $10. BTW, the
snapring on the end of the output shaft can be difficult to remove
without the proper pliers.
