why does it have to have a lock up converter? it shouldn't make any differance if it does or not. don't think you'll find a th350 with one.

TH350's with lockup function 1980+. But the lockup on these rarely work anymore and would need rewired to work with your 700R4 since the plug is different, so Id suggest just use whatever TH350 you can find. Also will add the TV cable in your 700 will not plug into the detent hole on the TH350, so you would either need to buy an aftermarket cable that will work with your TPI or plug it and manually downshift.

The TH350 with the lockup is the TH350-C model (80-86). Mine came from a truck and I bought it freshly rebuilt for $275. You'll find that there are less performance products for the TH350-C (when compared to the regular TH350). I'm just going with the B&M TransPak but I would have prefered a full manual valve body with reverse shift pattern. I wired my lockup to a toggle switch because I use the car to drift and I want to keep it off for drifting. I'm sure its possible to wire it up to be computer controlled, but I have no details or experience on that one. For the kickdown cable I got the Lokar kit (TPI Specific). Be aware that you'll need a torque arm conversion kit when you install a TH350 into a 3rd gen. Also be aware that the newer year 3rd gens might give you fitment issues when using the conversion kits. I'm having a heck of a time doing the conversion on my 89 IROC, but guys with 82's and stuff seem to have less problems.

Car: 1989 Formula 350 Firebird
Engine: 350
Transmission: 700 R4
I had one in my 89 with a lock-up convertor. All I had was a different length driveshaft. I took it out for a 4 speed when I got 4.10 gears. Now its just sittin in my garage.

Car: 1991 S10 pickup 2700lbs
Engine: 4.3L Z TBI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.08 7.625"
direct swap into the 82s and such

but you want to find length of th350 that is same as trans you are removing from car,

you car ppl always forget that there are three lengths of 2wd th350 trannies

6" tail will be the one to get for thm200c replacement

9" tail one for 700r4 repalcement

direct swap other than the b and m bracket for tail mount

its very simple to th350 any 2nd gen

other than if it has speed sensor speedo
