I had my 87 camaro on a lift , its got a limited slip in it. I would spin the yoke on the pumpkin (no driveshaft) ...and both tires spin when i turn it. if i try to stop one tire, the other one wont spin either.

however, the 2001 t/a rear i purchased...has discs that are fairly corroded. the rear has 13,000 miles on it...and when id spin that yoke, one side would spin and the other would try, yet if i stopped one side, the other one would still spin. it was low on gear oil however, and the oil has been sittin in there a while. its got the posi additive too im sure, because when i inspected the gears, the oil got all bubbly. the gears looked brand new.

why would there be a difference like that? do discs/drums act different then eachother in that respect? do the tires being mounted on one rear and not the other make any difference?

all that spinning this way and that = monkey spank, means nothing just like the bubbly oil means nothing. then again since you had to cover off to see the bubbly oil it shouldn't of been much of a trick for you to look at the carrier and seen what you really have would it?

it is a posi carrier.

i was just curious as to why one rear would do one thing and why the other one wouldnt.
