manual to auto question

I am just getting ready to drop the richmond 5 out and install a t400. My question is do you need to take out the manual pilot shaft bearing in the crank to ensure room for the converter nose? Just trying to have no suprises.

Axle/Gears: ford 9in 4:56 to 1
should be fine with it in there I have never removed one to change to auto and have had no probs. in several swaps such as yours
