i suppose that all depends on what consists of the rebuildl. If your just talking new clutches and steels and such with no performence modifications it sounds a little high to me also...

You might look in to some of the ebay stores for there 700r4s. Seems you can get a race built 700r4 for about 1200 not including shipping.

Transmission: all OD
Axle/Gears: Always the good ones
Quality rebuild from someone who knows what they are doing and has multiple overdrive trans in the field runs about 900-1200 for trans only.

Add in hardparts and it goes up real quick.

Jimmys Transmissions in Mundelein,IL or Probuilt here on the boards are two people I would heavily reccomend dealing with or at a minimum talking to on the phone. Good experiences with both of them and ProBuilt even recommended me dealing with Jimmy, since he is closer to me and familiar with his work.

Do your research wisely, tons of info on it here.

find out how much the labor cost is going to be and then go with the reasonable professional shop. I found a guy to do it for 300.

Go to transmissionpartsusa online and order the parts after your trans guy takes it apart and reccomends the parts to get.

I got a hd torque convertor, Z-pack, transgo sep plate. 13 vane pump kit. complete clutch seal bearing and steel kit, the beast sunshell, for like 400 if you shop you will find the above website to have the killer deals.(oh yeah a high energy band. What you want to do is try to make it a 4l60e without the e. the only thing I did not get is the 5pinion planet, I would doubt I have 300hp at the rear wheels so I do not think I need it)

Some of the above mentioned parts are not on the website so you have to call.

My trans is kick-@ss for just over 700. Keep in mind that I am pro at putting these type of deals together.

You just need to know how to talk to people and have a keen business sense

well i guess the transmission is gunna be 800ish they said thats accualy the price to replace. rebuild would be a little less, i also forgot to mention they got me a new b&m torq converter ive check at some transmission places around here and it seems to be the lowest price, one place said they wouldnt do it because of effort involved... ive pulled a transmission out of a iroc before its not that hard but now i just dont have the time to do it my self. and im a sucker for buying anything.... cars, magic beans ... so on
