B&M Pro Ratchet

I have a B&M Pro Ratchet (for my 700R4), and it doesnt seem to be shifting the gears right. It feels like the shifter has 8 positions instead of 7. When I put it in drive, going from park, the pressures go down to 60. If I go to what I think is 3rd, it goes to 120.

Going form park to reverse works fine.

I set the shifter cable up by putting both the tranny and the shifter in first gear positions and adjusting the cable that way. I made another adjustment today and it seemed to help a bit, but I think it's still wrong.

The shifter has the lever that prevents going into reverse, unless you lift the lever.

Am I doing something wrong? I took out a pin that is supposed to be in for 3 gear trans, and out for 4 gear trans. I followed the directions. I am using the shifter cable that came with the shifter, there are no crimps or sharp bends in the cable.

Do I just need to adjust it more?

Also, I can manually put the trans in 8 diff locations (unless i'm out of my mind). Is this normal, or am I on crack. starting in first, I can count 7 more clicks before I get to the end.

anyone have one of these shifters?
