B&M Megashifter Help!
Would of used the search function, but it's not working at this time. I need help. I've installed the shifter, it shifts in all the replaces and what not. The problem is the car is able to start in all gears, and i also have no reverse lights. Any idea where i went wrong? I used the relay from radio shack, but i think this is where i screwed up. I heard you can run it without it, which may make life easier. Would the shifter work correctly if i just wire the blue and green wires (back up light wires) to the bottome switch, and then the yellow and purple (neutral safety switch wires) to the top like so? Thanks in advance!!!

well it has bean a wile sence i hooked min up but here gose.
the realay you are tolking about is just to increase idle speed of the engine when you put it in gear. the orange or oriange and black wire are for the nutrile safty switch . the other wires I cant remember mabey purple (you can look at your back up lights to see the colors) go to the switch that is activated when you put it in reverse. Hope this helps

So, if i just attach the blue and green wire (these are the back-up light wires) to the bottom switch (which is the back-up light switch), and then attach the yellow and purple (the neutral safety wires) to the top switch (neutral safety switch), i should be golden? So i really don't need the black and orange wires (which i guess are the idle speed wire) and the relay aswell? It would make the wiring process a whole helluva alot easier.

I am not sure about the wire colors but I think the black and orange are the nutral safty switch on all gm cars. regardles of the colors you DO NOT need the relay for the idle UNLESS your car stalls when you put it in gear. I do not have mine hooked up and it has never stalled not one time int 1 1/2 years. scot

i used to have that problem it wasn't the wiring it was the switch button was being pressed in at all the points and all i had to do to fix it was stick a screw driver there and bend the tap out a little bit

Yeah, i got the wiring diagram for the relay. Just had to make to many extra wires. I just wish it was as simple and connecting the wires from the stock shifter switch to the B&M one. I'm gonna try it one day this week, when i get the chance to. I want it to be as simple as 1, 2, 3. I hate wiring. I'll check the B&M's website for the diagram, to make sure i got the right one.

when you hook it up there are two switches you have to install so you can start the car in only nuetral and park, and another switch to activate the backup lights.

pull off the rubber boot then grab a long flat head screw driver and press in the button manually if it starts then the button is out of adjustment and all you have to make the switch work is bend the tab a little bit
