3 series 3.73 from Astro van

A friend of mine pulled a 3.73 posi from an Astro van. Is it possible to transplant the entire posi and carrier into his stock 2.73 rearend housing?? He wants to yank his 2.73 peg leg and replace the whole mess with the posi unit and 3.73 gears.

Will this work??

I know you can't swap a 3 series gear into a 2 series carrier without the proper ring gear spacer, but can you swap the whole carrier? My first thought was that it wouldn't fit.

only thing to watch for is the axle spline count being the same or you'll need axles to match the new carrier. measure pinion depth and back lash before you pull the carrier and gear set.

Car: projects.......
- could be 26 or 28 spline in either vehicle. If they match, all you'll have to do is proper gear set-up/shimming.
