Change tranny fluid? 115K miles
I was just wondering if it should be safe to change my tranny fluid in my 700R? The fluid seems to be getting a little dark and the pan gasket is leaking a little bit anyways. There is nothing noticeably wrong and it shifts nice and firm. But I've heard and read bad things about changing the fluid in higher mileage trannys. Any opinions?

weell anything is better than the tired worn out junk fluid thatts in it now
if oy uleave it it will die for sure
i think you have a better chance with changing it than leaving it
if the fluid doesnt smell burnt at all then i wouldnt worry, also if the cable is set correctly
when you get the pan dropped carefully hunt for any metal flakes in the pan or chunks of black material, if you find any then worry
good luck

Thanks for replying, But do You think it would be a good idea to install a larger pan that holds 2 extra quarts of fluid to keep things cooler? I found one in the Year One catalog for only $28. it has been 100+ degrees everyday where I live.
