Car: '89 Firebird
Engine: 305 TBI (LO3)
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 10 bolts 2.73
v6 trans
I'm thinking about buying a 86 v6 camaro with a 5 speed manual trans. for my sbc 400 project . But my question is : can the stock v6 trans handle the torque of my slightly modified 400 ? Is it the same trans used on manual v8 camaros ?

No its not the same. The clutch disc is different, the trans is weaker, and the gear ratios suck. I suggest you do a search.
