T56 info needed

Well I sold my TA the other day because I want to go in a different direction.

I want to pick up a TPI 305 5 speed TA or camaro and replace the the motor/trans with a Pro charged L98 350tpi/T56 6 speed and dana 60 rear.

Questions
#1 What flywheel will I need for this combo?
#2 What trans cross member will I need? Or will I have to fab one up?
#3 Will I need a custom drive shaft?
#4 What clutch will I need?
#5 Anything else I need to know? Like will the clutch cable work on my stock pedal or do I need another one? ECT ECT...
#6 What gear ratio would be best for the dana 60...I want a good launch but dont want to have to shift into 2nd at 10mph and I would like to keep rpm's to around 2200 max at 70mph. I will be running 285/40-17's in the back.

Any part numbers would be great for like the clutch and flywheel.

Re: T56 info needed

"Tell me everything that's happened so far!!!" "Well, first the Earth cooled, and then the dinosaurs came..."

So... after you read the post in the FAQ about "everything you always wanted to know about the T-56 but didn't know you had to ask", and a brief search - or even just a scan - down this page, is there anything specific and unique to your particular vehicle that hasn't been covered at least a dozen times? When you have a specific question, I'm sure we'll all be glad to help, instead of posting the same stuff over and over and over and over when somebody asks that.

Re: T56 info needed

Did you scan through the first handful of pages of this forum and read all the T-56 posts (maybe 10 pages or so would get you an ENORMOUS amount of info where we've all already answered all those EXACT questions probably several times each already)?

Did you read the extremely long, detailed, and informative post in the FAQ forum?

We're here to help, with things we haven't already put together separately because they get asked SO OFTEN; not to do all your research for you.

Answers:
1: Depends on if you get a roller block with a one-piece rear main seal or an older block with a two-piece seal
2: There are a few companies out there which sell ready made crossmembers or you can make your own.
3: If you use the LT1 T56, no. But you'll need a way to make the speedo signal work with your computer. With the aftermarket T56 you'll need a custom driveshaft and torque arm that are 2" shorter, but your T5 speedo gears will work, so will the T5 bellhousing, clutch, and hydraulics.
4: I recommend McLeod exclusively.
5: The thirdgen pedals will work with the fourthgen T56 hydraulics.
6: Many people have luck with 3.73's. Go for 4.10's if you run 28" tires.

Did you read the two tech articles on this site as well? One talks about a T56 into a T5 car and the other talks about a T56 into a 700R4 car. All the info is already on this site as its a popular swap. You just have to bore yourself reading it all.
