Clutch in T56 won't disengage completely after installing OEM assembly

Alright, so after I somehow blew out my throwout bearing, I find out my new fidanza clutch is completely burned out and chewed a nice gouge in my pressure plate. After replacing the presure plate and clutch with OEM parts, my clutch won't completely disengage. It is hard to shift through the gears while the car is running, but it is impossible to get into reverse. The car shifted flawlessly before replacing the parts. I have also replaced the slave and master cylinders and bled them thoroughly. I noticed that the clutch fork isn't flush with the bellhousing as it was with the fidanza clutch assembly. Instead, it is slightly back in the housing. I am at a loss of what could be causing this. I know I put the clutch in facing the right direction, and used the alignment tool, the throwout bearing was already on the pressure plate so I couldn't have screwed that up, and, as I said, I bled the hydraulics. The flywheel is aluminum from Fidanza. The only things I can think of that could cause this is possibly the clutch disk is too thick or something with the width of the throwout bearing. Since my car is home in PA and I'm here at College in Maine, I'm looking for any speculation as to the cause of the clutch not disengaging so I can fix it over Christmas break. By the way, this is my first post, ever.

Thanks for any and all help.

On a side note, what could cause my throwout bearing to fail like this?

Most likely you are correct on the disk being to thick, a lot of companies are buying their stuff from Mexico lately and ending up with that problem.
I use some shim stock under each pad to space it back, about .015-.025 will do it. Later if the clutch wears down you can remove the shims.

Re: Clutch in T56 won't disengage completely after installing OEM assembly

No more suggestions eh? My mechanic has been doing some reserach and was told by GM that the '90s 4th gens had problems with the hydraulics not having enough throw and using a set from a '00s camaro would fix the problem. But that doesn't tell me why my throw out bearing died the way it did, or why my clutch fork isn't flush with the bellhousing. I haven't suggested the shims yet, probably after new years.

Re: Clutch in T56 won't disengage completely after installing OEM assembly

After getting my car back from the mechanic and a $447 bill for parts and labor, nothing was fixed. So I did some work myself. Somehow I fixed it by swapping the old master cylinder in place of the new one, and in the process made the old one adjustable just to see if it would help, turns out I didn't even have to adjust it, and I could shift flawlessly through all forward gears and reverse.

Usually if your getting marks in your pressure plate, its because the T stud that the clutch fork pivots on isnt tightened down all the way, they can back out if you dont use loctite on them.
