700R4 won't shift up....

I have a 700R4 gearbox attached to my 305 Crossfire.

The box shifts keenly into reverse, drive, overdrive etc. But, it won't go up to 2nd, 3rd....

There is fluid in the box, fresh fluid too.

Is there a cable, pump, electric gizmo that could be causing it or is it time for a new box/rebuild etc?

while you have the gov. out make sure the valve moves freely. with the gear pointed up move press the butterfly weights and realese a couple times. if the valve doesn't move you have a hung valve.

Re: 700R4 won't shift up....

Just had this problem with my transmission. I replaced the governor gear and it fixed the problem.
