700 r4 2nd to 3rd clunk?

700r4 is clunking from 2nd to 3rd after I recently installed a spohn adjustable torque arm.
1st to 2nd is smooth,3rd to overdrive is smooth, and it only seems to do this under light accelration.
the shift is firm and quik but it gives a thunk similair to a brokin trans mount. fluid level is good

stage 2 700r4 from bowtie overdrives with apporximatly 2500 miles
your input is greatly appreciated,thx

Re: 700 r4 2nd to 3rd clunk?

Clunk maybe sounds like it is from the rear? Common issue. The 2-3 shift timing is off, and is binding by being in two gears at the same time. The transmission stops applying forward power to the driveshaft which opens up the clearances in the axles splines, ring & pinion, u-joints, etc. Once the transmission un-binds the slack is taken up with a clunk.

RBob.

Re: 700 r4 2nd to 3rd clunk?

readjusted tv cable according to the tv cable thread, nothing changed.
But I do notice every bump in the road with this new spohn adj torque arm.
the smallest bump feels louder then the 2nd to 3rd shift im talking about.
Is it possible that the tranny just has a firm, healthy 2nd to 3rd shift, and I
just didnt notice it with the stock torque arm?

but Id hate to think that and burn my tranny up.

r u talkin about the crossmember torque arm deal?........

it might just be torque arm being too loose and hitting the tunnel...

Re: 700 r4 2nd to 3rd clunk?

There is a modification you can do to the 2-4 servo in the trans that helps the 2-3 clunk a lot. The instructions for the mod are included in the ProBuilt Automatics modified TransGo shift kit. Call Dana at ProBuilt.....or....... go to
( www.700r4l60e.com ).
