Ok so i just picked up a saginaw 10 bolt posi and i opened it up and the teeth of the spider gears have minor wear on them, couple chips but im rebuilding it so where can i get a new set? Judging by the teeth im probably gonna have to replace the clutches too but i need to know where t get the parts from, checker, autozone and summit/jegs cant help me where do i get them!?

If it's an Auburn posi unit, new clutches aren't available for them. You might be better off just buying a new or another good, used posi unit instead. The only place I've seen new spider gears available for the posi carriers was on Yukon Gear's website, and they were pretty expensive. Over $200 IIRC. Yet another reason it'd probably make more sense to just replace the whole carrier with another one. If you decide to spend the money on a brand new posi, I'd recommend going with the Eaton unit, since they're rebuildable and new clutches are available for them. Or you could pick up a Torsen posi from a 98-up, 4th gen rear. You can get them cheap on ebay, and they don't have any clutches to wear out.

That's why we already recommended not replacing the parts because their probably fine or buying a different rear. I haven't seen the gears but I'd be supprised if a few chips were going to hurt anything. The spider don't even do anything except when turning corners. Replacing the clutches sounds like a good idea if they are worn out.

crap thats what i was afraid of. I was thinking about it and if those yukon gears are $240 then i guess i could just put off replacing them and just get a different carrier, my thing is the chips arent major so i think i could get away with using it but i dont know if i want to lol i think i could find a 98-02 rear and take the posi out of it how can i figure out what kind of posi it is like make wise, if its auburn im just gonna chuck the thing and get a different one

Yeah, if it's just a few minor chips in them, more than likely it should hold up. Like Mike said, the spider gears aren't put under a lot of stress most of the time. Post up a pic of that posi unit, and I'm sure we can help you figure out what kind it is.

ok i took a pic of each spider gear, the entire unit itself and then one of that stamped code on the side of it, sorry for the quality just bought a new phone and still getting used to the camera. AS far as the gears go you can see chips off the top of one or two teeth on each side, is that too much? As it sits im gonna drop this puppy in if i can and replace it with a torsen and some new axles in nov. when i get my retention bonus from work

Looks like an Eaton Gov-Loc with an extra thick ring gear to me. I would dare to say your spider gears don't exactly look "healthy". The Gov-Loc unit really isn't worth investing any money into. I'd say just run it the way it is until you can afford to upgrade with a nice Torsen unit. The Gov-Loc is commonly referred to around here as the "Grenade-Lock", due to the fact that they can explode into fragments quite easily under power on dry pavement. They were used in the early 3rd gen rears before GM switched to the Auburn units. The Gov-Locs are like a rash on ebay, and you can easily get a vastly better Torsen unit for the same money that those sellers charge for the inferior Gov-Loc.
