2.8 Stroker - flywheel change?

Sp on my 1989 Firebird, I've rebuilt the 2.8 into a 3.1. I have a 5-speed WC transmission. The question is since the 2.8 is externally balanced and the 3.1 is internally balanced, do I need to change my flywheel?

Re: 2.8 Stroker - flywheel change?

Are you sure that your 2.8 was externally ballanced? The early 2.8 was externally ballanced, but the later ones were internally ballanced. Check your flywheel for the counter weight. If it has one then you need another flywheel. If it doesn't have one then you can use it. I swapped my early 2.8 for a 3.4 and used the flywheel from a 2.0 or a 2.2 4 cylinder.
