TV cable installation

I just bought a new TV cable. How do I install it? It includes the cable and the rubber tube that surrounds it, and has connections on each side, one for the tranny side and one for the throttle body side. How do I get the old TV cable that's in the car now off of the bracket with the button on it?

unhook the old one from the carb or throttle body, you can do this with a small flat blade screwdriver, it has two small tabs that clinch the shaft it comes off away from the end of the cable.
The housing itself has a square black plug that is mounted into a steel holder, it is held in place by expanding tabs usually on top and bottom of the mount, use a flatblade to press one tab towards the cable while wiggling the housing out, once that tab is started out, press the other side in. it will come out.
On the tranny, there is a 10mm bolt that holds the cable to the tranny, take it out, pull the cable housing up the end has a flat metal tab with a hole in it, it is hooked by a wire in the tranny, usually it unhooks automatically. don't worry, the wire does not disappear into the tranny!
get your new cable out, note the routing of the old cable, fish the tranny end down by teh distributor to the tranny, hook the cable to the wire, insert the bolt, install the carb end. be sure to adjust the cable. real important to do, do not leave cable too long...

Make sure to spray the area around the trans-end of the TV cable with brake cleaner, or at least wipe the area down with a rag. You don't want to knock any loose dirt into the trans. Also sometimes the rubber grommet that goes around the base of the TV cable tube will stick to the end of the TV cable tube- just pull it off and slide it back into the hole in the trans.
