Quick ?: Whats the diff between POSI and Zexel-Torsen differentials?
I have a 92 firebird without posi rear end, SLP is selling take off Zexel-torsen differentials for $100, would it be a good upgrade over stock? Whats the difference between this one and the stock one or a posi one?
Thank you.
Thank you.

The Torsen differentials use all internal gears and do not have clutches like conventional posi units. This makes them able to transfer torque more accurately to each wheel and they will not wear out as quick as the posi units with clutches.

Both the Torsen and all other posi differentials are designed to transfer torque to both wheels. If you are only spinning one wheel then you have an open differential. Get the Torsen takeoff unit for $100 from SLP. It's a very strong and well designed piece.

Where did you see them for $100.00 from SLP? I tried looking, but they are listed at $299.99..

That price is for the heavy duty Torsen differential. The normal duty version is available for $100. This is what all the LS1 F-Bodies come with standard (I'm pretty sure about this). I think the SS and the WS6 come with the heavy duty unit.
