700r4 slipping at high rpm

i installed a B&M transpak shift kit a while back. before this the trans shifted fine. now from 2nd the 3rd anywhere above 3000 rpm when it shifts the rpms will rev up between 200-500 rpm. has anyone else seen this? did i install something wrong? are the clutches just bad and i need a rebuild? any help would be awesome. Also i have adjusted the TV cable like 3 times and dosen't really help any at all. Thanks

Re: 700r4 slipping at high rpm

First, I am not a fan of the B&M kit. I have run two B&M kits in two different vehicles and the results were lackluster. Sure you got a hard, fast shift under WOT, but it came along with clunky and harsh part throttle shifts. The TransGo kit I'm runing in my K5 (I have since converted my Camaro over to a T56) is much, much better. A neck snapping, break the tires loose shift at WOT, but a barely perceptable shift at part throttle. Seriously it shifts like a Mercedes. I simply love it.

The main reason for the difference is that B&M does not use accumulation, instead they have you block the accumulators solid. This is not a good idea.

Still, this isn't causing your problem. Your clutches are slipping. The odd thing is that you said it didn't do this before you installed the shift kit. The problem with a rebuild is that if you use the same valvebody and seperator plate (which have now been modified with the shift kit parts and enlarged holes) and those are the parts causing the problem you will have a rebuilt trans that still slips.

My suggestion is to remove the valvebody and seperator plate. Go back through the shift kit instructions and make sure that you did everything correctly (drilled out the right holes, etc.). If everything is correct I would try to get an unmodified valvebody and seperator plate from a junkyard. Install the unmodified parts and see if the problem persists. If the problem remains then the trans is spent and needs a rebuild. Since you will have an unmodified valvebody and seperator plate I highly suggest installing the TransGo shift kit if you want a firmer shift without the tradeoffs you make with the B&M kit.
