All "stock" 700R4's will come out 1st gear if held past governor shift point. To fix this you will need the TransGo Performance Shift kit (700-2-3). I carry the modified version of this Shift kit. This kit will allow you to hold 1st gear to any rpm, until you move the shift lever.

You don't have the Shift kit I described. What brand valve body kit do you have?

No, this is for the lockup only. If you have the TCI valve body kit, it will hit hard on the 1-2 shift (this is not what you want, you need to tone it down), but will not hold 1st gear. The TransGo Performance Shift kit is the only one that will do this.

I have had the TCI kit in before and hated it. it didn't hold the gears as well and the slam shifting got old very fast.
