9 Bolt 3 series carrier, so i thought...ID HELP PLEASE!!

Hello all, im not new as a member here, but its my first time posting. I have an 89 iroc that im basically doing a complete Spohn rebuild with coil overs and an 2002 ls1, rock-on 4l60e, yank 3500 stall, and NOW i just came across a 88 borg warner 9 bolt with both a 2 series carrier and "supposedly" a 3 series carrier. Now the more i look at it (i know, i should have from the start) it looks totally different that the 3 series carriers that are sold on 9bolt.com or any ebay picture for a 3 series carrier. it actually looks like it isn't stepped down in 3 places and that window to view the posi cone wear isnt there i dont think. im going to attach a couple of pics to show what i mean. Also, there is a 3.08 ring gear on this supposed 3 series carrier. Maybe it was just thrown on, i don't know. Any identifying input would be greatly appreciated.

Looks more like a 2 series to me. The 3 series has the ring gear located almost in the center of the differential.

That's what I was thinking....I've been had! Also, doesent this particular carrier look fatter throughout the entire thing from left to right?? Every other carrier I look at gets smaller and smaller from left to right.

The only thing that makes me think it's for a 9 bolt is that it has 8 ring gear bolts. Otherwise it doesn't look like it's from a 9 bolt.

Yea, I had a hunch once I saw the other pictures on eBay. I picked up a carrier last night from eBay complete with 3.27 gears for 380.00 shipped to me. Thought I made out like a bandit, guess not.... Thanks a lot for confirming my suspicion. Do u have any idea what kind of carrier this is from???

I'm not saying that it's not from a 9 bolt, but it doesn't look like it. If it's not a 9 bolt then it could be from one of the smaller Dana axles.
