Safety neutral switch
I recently bought an 86 Firebird... Upon trying to start it the car would not turn over.. I bought a new starter and that wasnt the problem.. Well I was told to check the neutral safety switch. I'm not sure where to look for that but here is also a little curve. The guy I bought the car from swapped a TH350 with the 700R4. Also, removed the TBI for an Edelbrock Carb. ANY help whatsoever would greatly be appreciated. If I'm not able to correct it, I will probably pull out the motor and tranny and start fresh..

Re: Safety neutral switch
Does the car do nothing when you turn the key, or does it crank? If it isn't even turning can you hear the starter solenoid click?

Re: Safety neutral switch
Safety switch is on the shifter in the console. Unless they changed the shifter it shouldn't matter which tranny you hook to it.

Re: Safety neutral switch
When the key is turned, there is no clicking. The dummy lights on the instrument cluster will dim out when the key is turned. I forgot to mention that I have already replaced the battery also.
