t5 or 700r4
so i been reading alot around here about the t5 witch is what i want to put in my car but looks like the t5 only holds about 285 torque. so my question is do i stay with a 700r4 or do go with the t5?
oh in front of that will be a 0 miles 355 with a mild cam and about 100 shot of nos.

Re: t5 or 700r4
no the t5 is by far inferior to the 700r4... you can build a 700r4 to hold 700hp...... talk to probuilt automatics on this site....... you get a tranny from him and a yank converter and it will down right kill any t5 out there....

Re: t5 or 700r4
OR get a basic rebuild kit and your t5 can handle 450 foot pounds of torque, which i dont think he will make, plus a manual is more fun

Re: t5 or 700r4
how big is the money tree?
everything I've read about a T5 says the case is the weak link. and if its from a v6 you might as well start taking it apart to use as a trash can.
with that said, i love my t-56 in the z28 but i also love my built/stalled 700r4 in the rust wagon.
if you can find a donor 93-02 that still has its parts that's going to make a t56 swap the easiest. i would personally prefer an 01-02 t-56 as it has the carbon blocker rings and LS6 clutch. would need an adapter to run on a gen I but will be overkill for a "mild" 350.

Re: t5 or 700r4
If your planning on going to the track don't do a t5. If you don't wanna spend alot of money you can find a freshened up 700r4 for a good price. If you want a manual go with a t56 from a 94-97 fbody car
