Should I powdercoat the tranny pan?
I was talking to a guy who recommended that I should get my aluminum TCI tranny pan powercoated on the outside to protect it from rot and make it last longer.
Should I get this done?
Will it negatively affect the cooling capability of the aluminum?
Thoughts please.

Re: Should I powdercoat the tranny pan?
i wouldnt do it. its not like the pan is going to rot and fall of anytime soon. It will take decades if not centuries for the aluminum to corrode enough to fail. Besides, once it gets covered in road dirt and oil, it will be protected from oxidation pretty well.
not sure how well powder coating conducts heat, it may trap it instead.

Powdercoating will insulate the pan, and keep the heat inside. Just install it as it came out of the box.

Just my two cents...
A lot of guys running the deep TCI pans wish they didn't, because it lowers the ground clearance and they end up scraping it over everything. Just something to think about

WRONG
powder coating creates a thermal bond that gets ride of heat better then bare metal.
ceramic hold in heat.

Addition to the above: Cast aluminum dose not bend or dent as a steel pan but it cracks. I will let you guess what happene next.

Have it hard anodized (type 2), you won't change the thermal properties of the aluminum and it'll resist corrosion better than stock.
