Car: 92 rs camaro
Engine: planning bbc
Transmission: planing t56
Axle/Gears: planing moser 12 bolt
help choosing gears for tranny for orr
hey guys heres the scoop im setting up my camaro for open road racing, i will be running first a 496 bbc then a 632 with 3.07 gears in the rear and a ROD transmission heres what i have so far but its my first time choosing the gears in a transmission so i need oppinions plz
1:3.28 or 2.04
2:2.22
3:1.57
4:1.24
5:1
6:0.76
rear:3.07
tire O.D. :26"
tell me what you think its my first time doing this so im wayyy open to sugestion

Okay;
Heres the way it works for the engineers at Auto Gear in Syracuse NY (T5 T56 TR6060 and 4spd manual parts)
Take your rear axle ratio (3:1) x your 1st gear choice. The ballpark is to get close to "9." As an example: 4.11 (rear gear) x 2.20 (1st gear in a Muncie RockCrusher) = 9.042. So; if you have a 3.07x3.20=9.8. Thats a WICKED deep 1st gear, too much honestly. You should really be looking for a 1st gear in the 2.98 range. If youre stuck, go with the 3.2 first gear I guess. a 2.04 1st is going to need at LEAST a 4.11:1 rear to get the car to move, 4.56 would be better.
