did i mess up baddd????

hey guys the other day we took out my t5 because it went bad, but the other day i got into the car to clean it a little bit and i accidently pushed the clutch down all the way. now my mechanic says that i completely ****ed up the clutch disk and to buy a new clutch disk and now we have to put it in along with the new tranny. But i found my clutch alignment tool and i oushed it in there and it fits all the way and it feels fine but did i mess up???

Re: did i mess up baddd????

It's probably fine. Don't worry about it. As long as your clutch slave cylinder didn't pop apart and spew the fluid everywhere, nothing happened.

Make sure the clutch alignment tool fits ALL THE WAY; pushing the pedal takes the clamping force off of the disk, and may have allowed it to fall down out of alignment. Make sure the nose of the tool goes all the way up into the pilot bearing.

Re: did i mess up baddd????

Your mechanic is a tard trying to get more money out of ya, find a new one.
Even if it moved, it would not ruin the disc.

might be smart to change it while your in there but his excuess is a tard excuess, and "I" would not trust him anymore.

Re: did i mess up baddd????

Just use the clutch alignment tool, and even then, while putting it in, once its mostly in, it often helps to push the pedal again while you slide the trans in.

The big problem is he thinks your a moron, when its really him

Now if you had pushed the pedal in,with out the clutch or bell in place, it would of blown your slave by over extending it and that would of been a dummy move. And why you don't press it in, when the "trans" is out in general.

Re: did i mess up baddd????

hey, just think this way, "**** happens" lol, i think ull b fine, and yea if hes under it with the alignment tool and you push the pedal then yea he can realign it, but its really not that big of a deal to pull the bell and presure plate off and take it apart, never done it ina camaro but many other cars

Re: did i mess up baddd????

yea i agree with everyone. He says that well have to take the bell off take the pressure plate and take out everything and re do it. Im like WTF it cant be that bad. so he said hes going to try it with me in the car but i dont see how its out of alignment if the tool fits smoothly and is very tight doesnt that mean its good? i think im dragging it out by now you guys have given me the answers and that the fact that 7-8 people tell me im alright and 1 says im ****ed im going in you guys's favor. now can i slide my old trans in just to make sure it is good?

Agreed with everyone else - and your mechanic is a douche for trying to sell you a bunch of stuff even before trying to put everything back together.

Re: did i mess up baddd????

It is weird though, OP are you doing this at home? Seeing as you were cleaning your car out while the trans was out. Now I kinda feel bad I hope I didn't call your friend a douche lol. Still though, as long as the clutch cylinder didn't pop out I can't see there being a problem, and even still I can't see why you would need a new clutch disc.
