Transgo vs probuilt automatics
I hope the moderators understand I decided to delete this post. I think the awnser is clear Dana at probuilt automatics is the best place to go through/ deal with. I felt my post wasn't in the best interest. Apologys all around.

Re: Transgo vs probuilt automatics
In my experience with trans-go and Dana at probuilt is this, I had purchased a trans-go shift kit for my 87 Trans Am and installed it my self and it was the worst mistake I had made in my life. It had shifted so hard it would literally snap my head back so hard it actually started to give me headaches. Needless to say the trans did not last long after that. I had since rebuilt a different trans since the case was broke and installed the kit from Dana and had alot smoother part throttle shifts and nice tire chirping full throttle shifts and the trans is still going today. Also Dana will sit down and talk to you and help you diagnose problems with your trans without ever spending a dime with him. I have had nothing but great advice from him and great parts from him and I will always go to him for my rebuilds/parts in the future.
It seems like trans-go (which has a great start in there shift kits) just doesn't like where someone picked up where they left off. Dana made improvements to what they were doing, some people get a little salty over that resulting the responses they made. Although I am only speculating.

Dana is the man!!!!!!!!
I was one of the firsts to run his pro street elite kits (after rick abare) and it has held up to a 750 horse no problems for 3/4 years. I recently opened her up found clutch material from a lip seal failure in the overrun piston which caused the 3/4 pack to burn up. He shipped an entire 3/4 set up no questions asked without payment saying it was not my fault! He even machined down a new piston with tighter tolerances so it would not happen again. I had to track him down to even make payment for the parts I ordered in addition.
I am a full believer in Dana and will be a customer for life! Do you build a performance engine using all the same brand?? No you mix and match the best!
Dana I will keep you up to date on my progress. Should be low to mid 9's with the diet my car is on this year.

Re: Transgo vs probuilt automatics
Could you be a little more specific on what component inside the transmission broke? Also a little more information on what model transmission and mods that were made? Did you build this transmission yourself? How much horsepower are you pushing and how long did it last? How was the car driven from day to day?
All things will eventually break. It's just the nature of mechanical machines.
Please anymore information will really be useful.

Need to throw them on the scap metal pile

Whatever mods he does to them. Think he called it the street/strip version.

He did ask me what color I wanted it painted when I ordered it as he does everyone. I told him white. He said I was the first person to ever ask for that color. Surprisingly it showed up gray and unpainted. Also showed up with a steel gear on the output shaft for the older 3rdgen speedo's. It took me forever to get that off and replace it with the plastic one. He said he wasn't sure which version my 91 had or something to that effect. Sorry but 91 is no where near an overlap year so that's just an excuse. Those two lack of attention to details should have been my first clue.

Re: Transgo vs probuilt automatics
Thanks for your contribution.
What really confuses me is how you can have 750rwhp and go hardly any faster then my friends who dyno in 300 range. That's the biggest ha ha here.

Re: Transgo vs probuilt automatics
Im not trying to start anything but if your friend runs anywhere near 9.7 seconds in the qtr with 300 horse in a 3000# car I will leg hump him!
Seriously I have built my tranny back in 06 with one of Dana's kits and it has held 750hp till 2011 spraying through the shifts. The only reason it failed was due to a lip seal pushing out of the over run piston. This in turn caused me to burn up my 3/4 clutch pack. To help combat against this he has machined me a new steel piston with tighter tolerances and sent me a whole new 3/4 clutch pack (steels and frictions) for free 6 years after I built the thing. Now if that is not customer service I dont know what is.
Truth is anyone can build a strong 2 or 3 speed automatic but getting a 700r4 or 4l60E to hold up to any horse is more difficult. I will continue to work with Dana, he is easy to work with and very helpful and that is worth a lot in my book.
Just curious why did your tranny shift so hard? Firm shifts and tire chirping has no place with performance and is the worst thing for an automatic.
