Flywheel question

Hey everyone, I just have a quick question about flywheel.

I need a flywheel for a 1987 1 piece rear main seal externally balanced (87 383sbc) that will work with a 94 lt1 T56.

Won't a flywheel from a lt1 fit a 87 1 piece because they are pretty much the same? Just as long as I get a 153 tooth external balanced t56 flywheel?

Re: Flywheel question

You should be able to use an LT1 flywheel no problem. As long as your 383 is balanced to work with a stock 1 piece RMS flywheel the LT1 flywheel will work just fine.

Re: Flywheel question

I believe my 383 needs a external balance flywheel but it is a 1 piece. But aren't LT1 flywheels all somewhat external balanced, but the crank is neutral?

Re: Flywheel question

The LT1s are external balance with the counterweight on the backside of the flywheel. Anything with a 1 piece RMS is externally balanced since the crank is missing a counter weight due to the way it is made for the 1 piece RMS.
