84 z/28 transmission in 85 iroc-z
Ok so I just got another 3rd gen this will be my 4th thing is its having some serious issues most I can fix no problem other than the trans. My brother also has an 85 that runs and drives perfect but needs body parts due to rust. Well we found an 84 z/28 in mint condition that has a bad knock in the motor for 800 bucks. Now I know my brother can use all of the body parts but will the transmission bolt into my iroc with no issues? I'm trying to get my car running and driving ok until the till winter so I can do an lsx swap. Btw the iroc is stock 100% 305 tpi 700r4. As far as I know the 84 z is stock too.

The 84 trans is probably the earlier 27 spline input shaft whereas the '85 will have the later 30 spline.
Just make sure that you use the 27 spline torque converter with the 84's tranny. Aside from that everything will be the same.
