trans is causing stalling

First I will explain the problem. Recently I've been having this issue where say I'm going 60 mph and let off the gas the rpms drop to like 400 and the car stalls every now and then. Manually shifting the car does not help and it has this issue at all speeds. I have my tv cable adjusted as tight as possible to make sure the line pressure is high enough and just changed the trans fluid and filter about 2000 miles ago. My first thoughts lead to believe something with the torque converter is toast. Any other ideas before I disconnect the lockup wire at the trans and just drive without a torque converter?

Also forgot to mention that the car chugs a bit while accelerating because of this issue as well. I've recently had idle problems so I've ruled out TPS, IAC, and things like that.

Re: trans is causing stalling

There's no lockup happening when the car is doing 60 MPH at 400 RPM. And unplugging the wiring for the lockup doesn't mean you'd be running with no torque converter. This is an engine problem, not a trans or converter or lockup problem. Maybe something related to ignition timing, or a vacuum leak, or an electrical short.
