R.I.P my 700r4..

Well my 700r4 is toast.. I don't know what happened, or why. I didn't beat on it, and it was perfectly fine yesterday..

I drove it this morning and found I had no 4th. I stopped and check my fluid, it was a little over but not much. Color is fine, no burnt smell, no idea what happened. I tried shifting manually (figured it was worth a shot haha) but of course it made no difference. I got to my destination and looked underneath the car and found I was leaking coolant(?!?!) From the oil cooler area (oil filter area). I'm sure this is another issue that just happened to pop up at the same time, as that is my luck!

When I try to leave again, about 30min later, I find I've lost 2nd 3rd and 4th! I still have P, R, 1st, but it will not shift out of first. I checked and the gear selector does work and shifts into each selected gear, just has lost 2nd 3rd and 4th.

I noticed it makes a buzzing noise, I described it as sounding electrically, and very similar to how a failing or very low on fluid power steering pump sounds. Its pretty loud too. It also shifts VERY hard into 1st, rocking the entire car when it slams into gear.

I think either the front pump has failed, or the governor gear is broken/damaged.

Any and all comments are appreciated, I really don't know much about transmissions. Thanks

DAMN, yours is worst than mine. Lost 3-4 and still have to drive the car back and worth to work (yes, VERY creatively)

-still waiting for my buddy to get it in his shop, and my other buddy works at RPM transmissions...

Re: R.I.P my 700r4..

Lol well I live 30min from my work so there's no way to drive it to work for me lol. But mygrandfather owns a trans shop, so I'm going to have them rebuild it, I've got a shift kit to go in it, they have a corvette servo for me, and I'm still trying to figure out a convertor...

I'm wanting to go with a 9.5in, but I'm not sure about a stall or not. I plan to do some road course racing, and want to keep it as streetable possible, so IF I go with a stall it'll be a pretty low one. Anybody have any recommendations? I'm not looking to drop $500 on the convertor though. I'm hoping 100-150.

I'd say drop your valvebody immediately and take all the valves out. Inspect, clean re-install and re-adjust your t.v cable.
