Re: Looking to rebuild my 9 bolt

Why do you want to replace the axles? Unless they are bent they should be fine.

and why the ring and pinion, inspect. If good, reuse.

Just need bearings, axle collars, seals, shims. Ratech has most if not everything.

Re: Looking to rebuild my 9 bolt

The Yukon installation kit is a very good one for the 9 bolt. You will also want to inspect the cones and see if they have bottomed out, or if they are close. This would be a good time to have that repaired if needed.

Re: Looking to rebuild my 9 bolt

The Yukon installation kit, axle bearings and seals and a set of 3.70 gears. As far as I know all of the 3.70 gears make some noise. Randy's Ring & Pinion has all of the parts you need. I think Summit also sells the Yukon parts.

This is the exact same thing I did to my Iroc. The pinion seal was leaking and I could not figure out why. come to find out, some one had installed a 10 bolt ring and pinion and did a crappy job shimming it up. I looked all over the internet trying to find the stock replacement. 9bolt.com was one option but had very delayed response which was very frustrating. 9bolt.com is a little cheaper but the stock replacement parts they have are used. i had the extra money at the time so i went for the 3.70 R&P and the install kit from Drivetrainspecialist. hope this helps

Re: Looking to rebuild my 9 bolt

How do you like your car with those 3.70 gears? I've always been told that 3.7x gears would keep a TPI motor out of the powerband. Those 3.70 gears are the only "new" gears that I've been able to find though.

Re: Looking to rebuild my 9 bolt

Well, my car also has a mild cam and short tube headers. So it's definitely got some more pep, mostly on the low end but it still goes through the power band pretty well.

Re: Looking to rebuild my 9 bolt

I think the 3.27 gear uses a 3 series carrier which is also what the 3.70 gears uses.
